Inuvik is the homeland of the Inuvialuit and Gwich'in and is the residence for a wide variety of other aboriginal and non-aboriginal people and cultures. As part of the Mackenzie Delta (Canada's largest fresh water delta) and close to the Arctic Ocean, Inuvik is located between the treeless tundra and the northern boreal forest and overlooks a vast maze of lakes and streams of the Delta. With the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Dempster Highway and the 50th anniversary of the Town’s incorporation, Inuvik is a proud community and presents diverse opportunities for visitors and prospective residents. Inuvik has a stable municipal infrastructure and includes varied rental properties and a commercial real estate market.
